Description

In 1535, Jacques Cartier met the Iroquois of Saint-laurent in Hochelaga, on the flanks of this mountain which he named "royal mountain"

Since then, this beautiful Montérégienne has been an emblematic landmark that has shaped the development of Montréal and defined its identity.

The mayor aldis bernard was the real artisan of the park of the royal mountain, inaugurated in 1876.

The landscape architect Frederick law olmsted (the one who realized central park in new-york) is the prime contractor of this enchanting place. He wanted the park to be accessible to all, regardless of their social status or physical condition. His wish has been fulfilled.
